BBC reporter Poonam Taneja’s ferry pilot father was killed in a crash while delivering a plane from Scotland to Canada in 1999. 17 years later she wanted to learn more about what he did, and understand his passion for it.
The result is a thoughtful short documentary that aired on BBC Radio 4 in October.
It’s worth listening to online.

Looks like that water would be or is cold. Assuming your landing was good enough to survive. Well I would say that beats flying over solid rocks, many terrain is not good for landing. Good thing the planes rarely malfunction. Charles Lindbergh flew that same plane on I think 90 more world and around the globe flights. Keeping it simple has made airplanes reliable.
