Southeast Alaska (or “Southeast” as Alaskans call it) is the southeastern part of the state, along the coast, west of the Canadian Province of British Columbia. Southeast is part of Alaska, yet it’s really it’s own world. Lots of fjords and bad weather off the Pacific combine to make it one of the most challenging places to fly float planes in the world.
There are also lots of mountains and snow, which combine with the water to make Southeast a huge tourist destination–with hundreds of thousands of cruise ship visitors passing through each summer. Thus, there’s plenty of work for pilots willing to work hard.
